Overview

The industries of Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) are facing increasing demands for higher performing innovative solutions in spite of continuous global and regional economic challenges. Projects are becoming increasingly complex, fast track and under-resourced. This is further exacerbated by the segregated nature of the AEC industry where various disciplines – often working in silos – continuously struggle to communicate effectively thus severely compromising deliverability and quality. This presentation proposes a new and highly effective method to capture design rationale and to communicate design intent of highly complex projects from concept to construction, using the Al-Bahr Towers and other innovative projects as case studies.

About the speaker:

Abdulmajid Karanouh is currently Director of Design Innovation and Head of Facades and Sustainability at Ramboll, with a background in Architecture (BSc), Computational Design (MSc), Façade Engineering (MSc) and Design Communication (MPhil). With over 15 years’ experience in leading multidisciplinary design teams, Abdulmajid has worked on many prestigious projects in collaboration with leading names and organisations including Santiago Calatrava, Richard Rogers, Zaha Hadid, BIG, Atkins, Arup and Aedas among others. Abdulmajid has contributed to several publications and has been invited to lecture at leading academic and research institutes including Harvard GSD, MIT, Architectural Association, UCL’s Bartlett, TU-Delft and the University of Bath among others.

The lecture will start promptly at 7pm with refreshments served from 6.30pm.
